EKÁER Integration and Development of Goods Tracking System Data

Client Description

The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) is a governmental organization in Hungary responsible for the collection of taxes and customs duties, as well as enforcing tax-related regulations. Its duties include tax audits, providing guidance to taxpayers, overseeing customs procedures, and detecting financial fraud. The organization aims to improve the efficiency of the tax system and ensure fair contribution to public finances.

Project General Description

The Electronic Road Freight Control System (EKÁER) is a system introduced by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) to monitor and regulate road freight traffic. Its primary aim is to combat invoice fraud and tax evasion, particularly in the transportation of high-value goods. EKÁER enables tax authorities to track both domestic and international freight shipments in real time, improving the transparency and efficiency of tax collection. Companies are required to report data related to their shipments, contributing to the reduction of tax evasion and ensuring fair market competition.

Challenge

For the effective operation of the EKÁER system, it is essential to integrate and manage various data sources properly. This involves data cleansing, normalization, and secure storage. During the data integration process, special attention was paid to improving data quality and complying with data protection regulations, ensuring the system's reliability and efficiency.

Risk management data analysis plays a crucial role in enhancing the EKÁER system's effectiveness. In the data analysis process, we applied risk management controls and algorithms defined by the relevant teams to identify and assess potential risks.

Data loading and report generation are indispensable for the smooth operation of the EKÁER system. This process includes regular data updates, creating various types of reports, and using advanced data visualization techniques. These activities ensure that tax authorities and analysts have up-to-date information for decision-making and risk assessment.

How we helped?

  • Data Source Integration
  • We linked EKÁER data with other relevant databases, such as vehicle registries, company information, and tax return data, enabling a comprehensive data ecosystem.
  • Data Cleansing
  • We ensured data quality by eliminating duplicates and errors through automated processes, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of the integrated data.
  • Data Normalization
  • We standardized the format of diverse data sources into a unified structure, facilitating efficient analysis and reporting.
  • Data Warehouse and Data Mart Loading
  • We regularly updated and loaded EKÁER data into the data warehouse, ensuring up-to-date information availability. The loading processes were automated and scheduled to improve efficiency.
  • Report Generation
  • We produced various types of reports based on EKÁER data, including daily summaries, monthly trend analyses, and ad-hoc reports. These reports allowed for the analysis of high-risk EKÁER data and supported decision-making.
  • Map-based Application for Monitoring
  • We developed a map-based application that enables the tracking of shipments, displaying their location and routes to support monitoring and enforcement activities.
